The Rockies: Hike to Eagle Rock and Overlook to Johnson’s Gulch

July 27, 2012

Today we followed an old logging road to Eagle Rock, an outcropping the overlooks the valley where our cabin, the barn, icehouse, blacksmith shop, milking shed, and other buildings from the 1800’s are nestled.

After a short rest, we took a less traveled road, which sometimes lost its shape as it wound through the pines.  To make sure we found our way back, we marked our way with rock cairns, as we left the road to enjoy lunch at another spectacular overlook!
