Beth Bankhead

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Previously a financial advisor in public finance, I spent many of my waking hours in Texas issuing bonds for cities, hospitals, and higher education institutions. After burning out in the financial industry, I resigned, bought a Eurovan and traveled around the USA with my two dogs. With this year-long road trip, came the birth of my blog.

After this year, my passion for travel and photography only blossomed. As such, I have continued blogging, traveling, and capturing images. My travels have taken me from the north pole to the south pole and many places in between. My blogging has garnered me feature articles with Dwellable, Darjeelin, Trip Tribe, Now on Earth, GPSMyCity, and Hopper.  My blog, previously Adventures of a Couchsurfer, was selected by Credit Donkey as one of the top “Best Adventure Blogs.”

My award winning photography has hung in a variety of shows including in the Colorado Springs Airport, The Audubon Society of Denver, and several local coffee shops and shows. In addition, my images have been featured on the ABC Series “Rock the Park”, in the Southwest Airlines Magazine, and in text books.

I love sharing the natural beauty of earth through travel, photography, and blogging. Please contact me with any questions. Thank you.

  1. Hey – Wow, i am really late to the game. What an exciting adventure. I hope it goes great and I will be reading!

  2. Sounds like a cool trip. Are you still on the road? We are planning our next summer trip. For what it’s worth, we mix up tent camping, KOA cabins (especially for laundry days), and hotels. Couch surfing would scare me a bit, but all the power to you!

  3. Hi,
My name is Jaime and I work for the California Native Plant Society, a non-profit organization. We are working on a book to showcase the different vegetation types throughout the state of California. I found your website by searching for a photo of Devil’s cornfield in Death Valley. I am interested in using your picture, and possibly others, if you would be interested in donating pictures for our project. Please let me know. If you are interested I will give you more information about the project. Thank you for your time!

PS- I’m really glad I found your blog! I plan on following and reading your past posts about your adventures. How fun!

    1. What part of Portugal. My cousin from England had a vineyard there. Not sure where but he is an expert on port. He has written a few books. I hope to do the camino there one day. I had the camino Frances planned for may 2020 but obviously that didn’t happen! Thanks for stopping by.

      1. dear Beth, for sure your cousin’s vineyard was in Douro region, it is so beautiful, close to the river 🙂 I am from Lisbon, the capital, but I’ve lived a few months also in Porto 🙂 have a great week, PedroL

  5. That journey sounds fascinating! Are you still adventuring? We’re currently mapping out our upcoming summer escapade. Just to share, we like to vary our accommodations between camping under the stars, staying in KOA cabins (perfect for those laundry pit stops), and indulging in hotel stays. While couch surfing might give me a tad bit of jitters, I admire your adventurous spirit!

    1. I adventure a few weeks every month now and do longer stints in the summer. Mostly boondock as the couchsurfing idea didn’t work for me. Enjoy your journey!
