Botswana

The landlocked country of Botswana has so much to offer. I’ve learned from my travels that Africa truly does not disappoint, and Botswana proves this to be true. The safari adventures you can go on are ones that will stay in your mind forever. The diversity of the ecosystems in Botswana that you will observe truly makes visiting this country hard to forget. You truly will get more than you could ever ask for while you are visiting Botswana!

Chobe National Park

While I was there, I visited Chobe National Park, which is Botswana’s oldest national park. This park is the most biologically diverse of the entire country, and has an incredibly high concentration of wildlife. While here, you can also observe the Chobe and Zambezi rivers intersecting. This is a unique phenomenon, as this is the only place in the entire world where four countries meet at once. Additionally, you too can motor along the Chobe River. Looking for wildlife along the river is extremely enjoyable. Most of the boat safaris offered in this area are geared around the diverse bird life as well as the incredible elephants that make Botswana their home.

Unique Animals in Botswana

What makes Botswana incredibly special are the animals that make this country their home. The most magnificent creatures roam the Botswana land. One of the most prevalent are the elephants, which will blow you away with the grace that they carry despite their sheer magnitude. You can also see so many lions while visiting Botswana, as they are all over. An animal unique to Africa is the Tsessebe. The Tsessebe is the fastest antelope in all of Africa! There is also the African fish eagle. This bird is the national bird for four countries, including Namibia, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, and Zambia. It is one of the oldest living birds on the planet! Botswana is also home to many other unique birds, such as the beautiful hornbills and the magnificent lilac-breasted rollers.

Observe Animal Activity

While in Botswana, you can also observe the activity that all of these animals have to offer. I spent a lot of time watching the baboons, and it is very fun to see the baboons interacting with each other. Additionally, you may even get lucky and have the opportunity to catch a wild dog chase. I witnessed one while on a safari, and it was a jaw-dropping experience to be able to witness the cycle of life. The best way to witness animal activity is through a safari. Many safaris differ, but there is always a chance that you may get lucky, like I did, to partake in a chaotic yet engaging safari experience.

Beautiful Landscape in Botswana

Even when you have run out of animals to see, there is beautiful landscape to behold in all of Botswana, with many different ways to experience the tremendous landscape. One of the most incredible things about Botswana is the spectacular natural landscape that is the background for the wildlife. I suggest beginning your mornings watching the beautiful sunrises, as they truly are just one of a kind in Botswana. Additionally, ending your day basking in the sublime sunsets is a must-do. You can catch many of the local wildlife in such unique and beautiful lighting. From safaris to simply staying somewhere with a captivating view, you really cannot go wrong. While I was in Botswana, I stayed in a multitude of different accommodations. I stayed in a treehouse camp, which was a unique and fun experience. I also stayed in a wonderful posh camp that was home to beautiful views. You’re sure to never run out of sights to see no matter where you stay.
