Top Things to Do in Camp Verde

Camp Verde is located 27 miles south of Sedona in Yavapai County, Arizona.  The town of 11,000 is quiet, offers friendly service, and is a gateway to many tourist activities.  I was surprised to find out how much there was to do nearby Camp Verde.

I was camping on Forest Service 579 just 11 miles north of town when I ventured that way in search of propane given the following day forecast of 47 degrees and rain.  Since I’m in the trial run with VANgo, I didn’t have a sense of my propane use.

After calling many places, I finally reached someone at Ace Hardware who suggested the Camp Verde Feed Store.  The service couldn’t have been nicer, and when I told Joey, who filled my tank, that it was going to be cold and rainy tomorrow, he asked, “Where?”

Steamboat Springs, also known as Steamboat or the “boat”, is located in Routt County, Colorado and has a population of approximately 13,000.  The town came by its name during early times when trappers heard a chugging noise and thought a steamboat was coming down the river.  Upon discovering the sound came from the surrounding natural hot springs, they named the settlement Steamboat Springs.

Today, the small, mountain town is popular tourist destination for both winter and summer activities.  While I have visited Steamboat in the summer, winter and fall, this post focuses on things to do during the warmer months.

Things to Do Around Nairobi

Nairobi

Getting to Africa from the United States is a trek, but once there it is a wonderful experience.  Even Nairobi, the capital of Kenya with a population of 6.5 million, has a lot to offer.  During our travels around Kenya as well as quick jaunt to Rwanda for a gorilla safari, we used Nairobi as a connecting base.  As such, we stayed in a few different places and visited a handful of sites, most of which were located in the Nairobi suburb Karen, named for Karen Blixen the renowned Danish author.
